Alabama baseball coach Brad Bohannon was hired in 2017 partly because of his recruiting chops. The class he signed this year clocked in as the 8th best in the nation by Baseball America. That makes three top-15 classes in the last four years. Despite the lofty ranking, the Tide still comes in 5th in the SEC behind second-ranked Florida, third-ranked Vanderbilt, fourth-ranked Arkansas, and fifth-ranked Tennessee.

The 21 signees include 12 from high school, five from the junior college ranks, and four that arrived via the transfer portal. Thirteen are pitchers, with seven being right-handed and six throwing from the left side. The position players include three catchers, three infielders, and two outfielders.

Some of the newcomers that are expected to contribute quickly are freshman outfielder Camden Hayslip; JUCO catcher Dominic Tamez; Wake Forest transfer, left-handed pitcher Hunter Furtado; freshman right-handed pitchers Ben Hess and Luke Holman; and freshman left-handed pitcher Brandon Clarke, among many others.

The newcomers mixed in with returners like Owen Diodati, Zane Denton, Drew Williamson, William Hamiter, Andrew Pinckney, and Jim Jarvis in the field and Dylan Ray, Antoine Jean, Landon Green, Brock Guffey, Grayson Hitt, and Jake Eddington on the mound, hope to take the Tide to postseason play for the second consecutive year. The team had gone five years without advancing beyond the regular season. Bama won two games in the SEC Tournament, and was awarded the third-seed in the Ruston, Louisiana regional, where they finished third.

Fall practice will start on Friday, September 17th, and it should once again be open to the public after being closed all of last year because of the Covid 19 crisis.

Can we talk about the fact that Alabama

outrecruited Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and LSU — all of them lottery schools; all of them having had more recent success; and all of them higher ranked than Alabama?

Was just going to go here

Wasn’t there a change recently, or is that yet to be legislated?

Not bad

Truly is impressive the job Coach Bo has done.

Almost Every single Weekend you know you’re going against one of the best programs in the country in the other dugout, but when you recruit like this it shows not only do we have the right coaching staff in place to compete at the highest level but we have one that 18 year old kids see that they’re gonna be able to be developed over the course of 3 or 4 years. Baseball is different than football or especially basketball where 1 great player can take you to the next level. Every guy on this roster can be an asset and this rebuild has taken time, but I know the university has the right man in charge for the future. Can’t wait till February. Roll Tide!!

Credit to Byrne.

How many of the new class are expected to

make it to Tuscaloosa? Bo has done a great job to this point, with patience and persistence, I believe we will be back in Omaha in the next few seasons.

That was the question I texted him yesterday.

He’s still not answered. LOL.

But I think more to the point is that with the Bizarre transfer and MLB rules, and esp. Alabama’s non-lottery, we’re going to always be fighting uphill by two or three scholarships. And to be successful we are going to have to build one to two years at a time based on Jucos and the quitter hole, as well as solid HS kids who stay 4

He's probably celebrating his birthday.

Happy birthday, Roger!

All of these guys are here. The reason they wait so late to announce the rankings is to wait and see who signs pro. Bama had signed a short stop from WI that was drafted in the 1st round and signed with MN for $2.05M. With him, Noah Miller, the class would have pushed top 5. RTR. Bama Baseball Fever. Catch it

Awesome!!! RTR

Here's my hope

That with SEC expansion and the windfall of money that baseball can be fully sholarshipped rather than the ridiculous 11.5. It will level the playing field from the lottery and endowment schools such as MSU and Vandy.

Great info!!! Thanks!!

If BYU can use the NIL to pay full tuition for 36 walk-on football players, we should get creative and fund baseball scholarships. JMO RTR
