Softball: Bad News on Bailey Dowling

Loki strikes again.

Softball coach Patrick Murphy broke the bad news regarding freshman infielder Bailey Dowling in a press conference today.

An MRI on Monday revealed a torn ACL and torn MCL that will knock her out for the season. It is a similar injury that teammate Claire Jenkins also suffered that made her miss the entire 2020 season. By all accounts, Jenkins is back to 100% though she now sports a large knee brace.

Disaster struck in the second inning of Game 2 against Tennessee last Saturday when Dowling was covering first base on a play and her foot awkwardly landed on the base causing her to collapse to the turf in pain. She had to be carried off the field.

At the time, she was hitting .306 with a team-leading 6 home runs and 25 RBI.

Savannah Woodard has filled in nicely at second base but she cannot replace the run-generating production of Dowling at the plate.

Ever seen Loki and Bub at the same time? Just sayin'...

Blaming Bub for all softball woes is Hardee appropriate

I hate it for her.

Heal soon, Bailey!

Really sad for Dowling and the team. Especially after seeing how we lag in homers compared to our conference foes.
